Can you see this?

16 years ago today, I first saw @Mike_Dougherty's Trick 'r Treat on the big screen for the 1st time thanks to an advance screening. This was when Warner Bros. still didn't know what they had and no theatrical or even home video was even on the radar yet.
I was enthralled when the credits began. I smiled throughout the entire presentation (seriously… my face muscles hurt).
My affection for that movie has never faltered.
Back in the day I wrote this and it still rings true:
It's a love letter to Halloween.
A gorgeous homage to things that go bump in the night… the type of film whose viewing transcends generations and becomes a tradition.

Thank you Mike for making one of the most sincere Halloween movies ever. 🎃

  1. I remember when it was coming out on DVD for that first time, I searched everywhere and was having no luck. We ended up on a trip to Florida and Disney World that year, to take the kids to Mickey's Halloween Party. At a random mall, we stopped so I could take a look in yet another store. And found it. Have loved it ever since. My wife loves it, too, so it is one we do watch together each October before Halloween. A modern classic, without a doubt.
