Mick Garris: "So as far as Halloween movies go, and I'm not talking about the sequels to your film, but Halloween movies in general, what are your favorites?"
John Carpenter: "Oh, God. I mean, is it a question?"
MG: "Meet me in St. Louis, did you just say?"
JC: "My favorite Halloween movies, well, there really haven't been many, you know?"
MG: "Yeah."
JC: "That's the thing. I don't know. I don't have one, really."
…
MG: "How do you celebrate Halloween on your own?"
JC: "I'm very quiet, OK? I watch usually basketballs on, so I watch that. I'll play video games or both.
"And if anybody comes to the door, we have candy here. My wife goes down to the office and puts on a costume and celebrates and welcomes trick-or-treaters. And I sit alone up here in my domicile very quietly."
Carpenter is like a Halloween saint.
