I had a great time with Dark Harvest.
I went in with no expectations, and found it to be a perfect film for my Halloween-day viewing.
FWIW: I have NOT read the book... yet.
It had great imagery.
A cool monster.
An interesting plot.
It's not perfect--- but for a Halloween watch it ticked all my boxes.
This might be your movie if:
If you like the monster from Pumpkinhead, but the movie didn't do it for you (that's me), this might be your movie.
If you like the opening credits of Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and want more of that, this might be your movie.
If you like the production design of Trick 'r Treat and want more of that, this might be your movie.
If you ever wondered what a Halloween Hunger Games might be like, this might be your movie.
If you like The Outsiders but want more Halloween, this might be your movie.
Heads up: it does have some gore (if that's not your thing), but it's few and far between.
In the end, it doesn't stick the landing, but it's go enough Halloween spirit that I'm going to add it to my Halloween movie rotation going forward.
P.S. It is SORELY in need of a better poster.
